Estimated fare for the Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien metro line will be around VND7,000 plus 700 dong multiplied by the length of the passenger’s journey.
Morning 28.8, People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized the construction of the first large urban rail line, Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien (route number 1) 19.7 km long.
The project starts at Station 1 in front of Ben Thanh Market and ends at Station 14 at Suoi Tien Bus Station (passing through Districts 1, Binh Thanh, 2, 9, Thu Duc – Ho Chi Minh City and Di An District – Binh Duong Province. ).
The project has 17.1km of elevated route (including 11 terminals) and 2,6km of underground passage (including 3 terminals). The project has a total investment capital of over 47 trillion dong (Japanese ODA and domestic capital), expected to be completed in 2017 and put into operation in 2018.
After completion, the metro line will be able to transport 186,000 passengers per day (up to 2020) and then increase to 620,000 passengers per day (2020 – 2040).
At the commencement ceremony, Transport Minister Dinh La Thang requested the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to direct the related units, districts have railroad pass through the urgent release of the site to the contractor.
